Martina Steves is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, a 140-hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher through YogaFit, a Board-Certified Tai Chi and Qigong for Health Instructor, a NASM/AFAA Certified Group Exercise Instructor, an AFAA Certified Pilates Instructor, and a NASM/AFAA Certified Senior Fitness Specialist.
She moved to Brattleboro with her husband Thomas, youngest son Ben, and two dogs Luna and Rosie from Ambler, Pennsylvania where for the last 8 years she taught different types of yoga, such as Vinyasa, Hatha, Ashtanga (Power), Yin, Restorative, Family, and Kids yoga to members of her community. Her favorite yoga classes are classes which focus on Chakra balancing and the Moon Salutation.
Before becoming a yoga teacher, Martina was already teaching Tai Chi for a couple years. In her teaching of sequences based on the Sun and Yang style of Tai Chi, she uses the Step-Wise Teaching method invented by Dr. Paul Lam, the founder of Tai Chi for Health Institute.
As an instructor of Tai Chi for Health Institute, Martina is focusing on empowering her students to improve their health and wellness.
In the spirit of YogaFit, she is focusing on bringing the practice of yoga to everybody and every body.
In her journey to wellness, Martina deepened her skills and became a Pilates instructor, adding Matt Pilates to her group instructor repertoire. She incorporated different props in her classes to bring variety and appeal to her classes.
Martina came to the wellness field as a former member of multiple fitness organizations. She has always led an active lifestyle: biking, running and hiking. Although exercising felt great, it was not enough for her. Since she was young, Martina has been aware of being connected to something beyond the physical life. Through practicing yoga, meditation, and Tai Chi, she found it again and loves to share the experience with others.
Currently, Martina is deepening her knowledge of the sister branch of yoga: Ayurveda. She's looking forward to becoming Ayurvedic Health counselor.
In her free time during nice weather, Martina spends a lot of time outside walking her dogs, hiking and gardening. In wintertime she loves to read, knit, and crochet and she is looking forward to getting back to skiing.
